Unique Network Management Challenges Faced by Large Multinationals

Recently I was at a family event where I got to meet a bunch of new people: You know, the kind of place where you pretty much have to find something to talk about because of awkward silence...

So seemed a great time to be talking network compliance, or policy issues or inventory management. Hey, at Dorado we're pretty excited about these things. And even better, I found myself talking to a person who is as wonky as I am! The new girlfriend of my brother-in-law, who likes football and beer as much as he does. They actually met at a sports bar at Superbowl. But that is a different story :)

So we'll call her, "Mary." Mary works as a forensic IT specialist for one of the world's largest multinational energy companies, which is active in over 180 countries (Hint: they made something like a bazillion dollars last quarter). But when you infrastructure is that big and something goes wrong in your network: look out!! Whether due to human error or lack of compliance, very large companies face IT troubleshooting and configuration on a massive scale.

Mary needs to have deep discovery of her network, advanced network mapping capabilities and an accurate picture of her inventory - not to mention compliance issues that could make any sysadmin turn pale. Even run-of-the mill troubleshooting (like seeing who is watching YouTube or downloading pornography) can be a lot harder when you have 70,000 employees worldwide.

Based on her issues what did I prescribe? A remedy that looks a lot like Redcell. Too bad I didn't get time to offer her the free trial.
